Hello friends!
HMI Proface is an extremely famous brand originating from Japan, it is commonly used in connecting to different types of PLCs. In addition, most Proface HMIs have an integrated RS485 Port. suitable for controlling devices with Modbus RTU.
Today thelivingchristmascompany.com will guide you to use HMI Proface (Specifically Model Proface GP4402WW) to control Hitachi NE S1 inverter using Modbus RTU standard (Both have built-in RS485 Port.)

Proface HMI & Hitachi NE-S1 “Connection Diagram”
Below is the connection diagram between Proface GP4402WW and Hitachi NES1

Hitachi NE S1 Inverter Parameters Setting
To be able to control the Hitachi NES1 inverter with “Modbus RTU”, in addition to the basic parameters of the inverter (Voltage, Frequency, Current…) we need to set the following communication parameters:

HMI Proface Modbus Configuration
I recommends that you configure as below for stable communication

- VFD Run/Stop Coil Address = 1 + 0 = “1”
- VFD Forward/Reverse Coil Address = 1 + 1 = “2”
- VFD Reset Coil Address = 1 + 3 = “4”
- VFD Frequency Setting Word Address = 400001 + 1 = “400002”
- Output Frequency Word Address = 400001 + 4097 = “404098”
Output Current Word Address = 400001 + 4098 = “404099
Output Voltage Word Address = 400001 + 4112 = “404113”
